[CBC News] On the 30th, the final day of early voting for the June 3 local elections, Democratic Party General Chief Election Campaign Committee Chairman Jeong Cheong-rae toured the Honam region to rally his support base. This move reflects the party's all-out effort to defend its traditional stronghold, prompted by challenges from independent candidates and Reform Party candidates in the Jeollabuk-do gubernatorial race and the Jeollanam-do region.

During a campaign stop in Wando, Jeollanam-do, Chairman Jeong emphasized, "I am not saying that all independent candidates are bad, but right now it is election season," and appealed for support for the Democratic Party candidates, adding, "In an election, you must win first and foremost."

He continued, "Please choose the Democratic Party candidate as a way to help President Lee Jae-myung," and added, "Under a Democratic Party government and National Assembly system, a ruling party candidate is more efficient than an independent."
