LG Uplus Completely Transitions Internal Wireless Network to 'Wi-Fi 7'… Work Innovation with 'Auto-Connection and Liberation from Wired Networks'

LG Uplus announced that it has completely upgraded its internal wireless network to the next-generation standard, 'Wi-Fi 7,' and introduced a company-wide single network system.

Through this network overhaul, a company-wide single IP system and a certificate-based auto-connection system have been established. Employees are automatically connected to the internal network without a separate login procedure, and can maintain the same work environment without network re-authentication even when moving to different office buildings. In addition, a dedicated wireless network for visitors has been newly prepared, improving the collaboration environment by allowing smooth internet access during meetings with external clients.

The new wireless network infrastructure was built around a central data center and was first applied to the Yongsan, Magok, and Sangam offices. It plans to expand to offices nationwide in the future, and intends to support the same network environment for regional workplaces by additionally installing wireless and power supply equipment.

The introduced Wi-Fi 7 technology enables stable video conferencing, cloud-based work, and large-capacity data transmission even in situations where many employees are connected simultaneously. With the application of new technologies such as Multi-Link Operation (MLO) and ultra-wideband channels (320MHz), pleasant work can proceed without speed degradation or connection drops even when there are many people in the office.

As wireless network performance improves significantly, dependence on wired networks is expected to decrease. This is also expected to contribute to the creation of a smart office environment where seat movements and spatial rearrangements are flexible.

Kwak Hyo-shin, Head of the Architecture Lab at LG Uplus, stated, "The transition to Wi-Fi 7 is not simply an improvement in network speed, but an infrastructure innovation that shifts the work environment to be wireless-centric," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our network competitiveness to suit AI and cloud-based work environments."
